Andalucia’s cities and towns combine modern glitz with centuries old monuments and architecture. Get away from the cities and coastal resorts to the villages and hills and you enter a different world. One that still moves to the rhythms of the seasons, nurturing olives, grapes, oranges and almonds. Andalucia possesses majestic landscapes – snowcapped mountains, bottomless gorges, rolling hills and turquoise lakes. The magnificent outdoors presents excellent opportunities not only for walkers but also for wildlife watchers, horse riders, cyclists, para gliders and anglers.

Also known as "balcony of the white villages", El Gastor is a beautiful typical mountain village with white washed walls and balconies adorned with flowers. Located just above the shores of Lake Grazalema and on the edge of Sierra de la Grazalema Natural Park, the surrounding scenery is stunning and breathtaking.

This traditional village has several "sell all" shops, 2 banks, a post office, a pharmacy, 24 hr medical centre and countless tapas bars. The Thursday morning market sells everything from fruit to furniture.

El Gastor could not be better placed to visit the rest of Andalucia. Just 20 minutes from Ronda, the historic town perched spectacularly on a gorge spanned by the famous Puente Nuevo. Ronda is renowned for its beautiful Moorish architecture, one of the oldest bullrings in the country and the many Roman ruins.

Within 1 hour's drive are the cities of Seville, Jerez and the port of Cadiz with the famous seafood area of Puerte de la Santa Maria. Less than 2 hours drive is the world famous Alhambra Palace in Granada.

.

Closer at hand are the magical white villages of Arcos de la Frontera, Setenil, Grazalema and Zahara de la Sierra to name but a few and all worth a visit.

For nature lovers and artists alike, the Grazalema and Sierra de la Nieves Natural Parks boast exceptional flora and fauna and amazing landscapes.

A 45 minute drive south from Ronda will bring you to San Pedro de Alcantara on the Costa del Sol, only a few kilometres from Marbella and the millionaire's playground of Puerto Banus. Drive west and reach the Costa de la Luz with Tarifa at its southern most point. Popular with kite and wind surfers and with whale and dolphin watchers.

The area is noted for its walking, rock climbing, cycling and wildlife watching (notably the Griffon vulture, eagles, ibex and rarely seen wild orchids).

Activities on the nearby lake include fishing, swimming and canoeing. Horse riding, pot holing, ballooning and paragliding are available nearby for the more adventurous. During the summer months the village opens its municipal swimming pool with its own restaurant and bar.
